For the past three years I've gone to visit the Skagit Valley Tulip Fields here in Washington in the spring. You could probably walk through the whole farm in 15 minutes. But you uncover the real magic of visiting the tulips when you slow down to take a closer look. My newest piece, Slowing Down, captures and celebrates moments of pause in a world where we are encouraged to rush. Inspired by the intricate details of the tulips only seen when you look a little closer, this painting invites us to linger, look closely, and find wonder in the small things.
